Cheers to the nocturnal.
Hey, I'm Jan Castolo. A short girl with tall hopes. I am born and raised in the city, studying in The University of the Philippines, Diliman taking up Visual Communication in the College of Fine Arts. I'm nineteen years young, born in the summer of April 15. Freelance photography is what I do for a living, besides being a full-time student. I live fast but, I like to take special moments in slowmo. Yes, I'm that type of gal running with the trend but, my soul is old fashioned.
And she will seduce you with spontaneity, awkwardness and dorky-ness.
By the way, I'm open to collaborations and commissions! Do drop me an email at jan.castolo@gmail.com, if you would fancy working with me or if you just like to.
If you’re a strong female, you don’t need permission
AHHHH, I’m still screaming in my head. I never thought, I’d watching Lady Gaga this close! She is such an inspiring woman, I couldn’t forget that moment when she sang Judas despite the threats of our government towards her and the possible consiquences. It was empowering, as she said:
“I’m not an alien, I’m not a woman, I’m not a man, and I’m not a creature of your government, Manila. I’m all your dreams and I’m all your potential. Let me be your insecurities and your fears. I’m your future, everything that makes you sad and angry. I’m you, little monsters. Tonight’s not a statement , tonight’s us coming together because, we believe, we were all born this way. Some people say, I stand for things that are bad. The truth is, I want the best for every single one of you. My lifestyle is like one whole performance of liberation. For those of you aren’t free, take this opportunity to be free.”
I wasn’t able to take pictures that night (this is my friend’s photo) because, I just wanted to embrace the whole concert and not concentrate with my camera. I’ve always been free but, this is a whole different feeling of freedom. I was myself during her concert, I was jumping, screaming and, not caring what others would think.
